Privacy policy

Precious Paws is a Canadian company that provides at-home biological-age tests and personalized wellness protocols for dogs. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

• Account information — name, email address, password (hashed), shipping address, and payment details collected through Stripe (we never see the full card number).
• Dog information — name, breed (self-reported), birthdate or estimated age, weight, and any notes you choose to add.
• Biological sample— a cheek swab provided by you and submitted via the kit's prepaid mailer.
• Derived lab data — methylation values, breed composition estimate, genetic-marker readout, and oral microbiome read returned by our laboratory partner.
• Usage data — basic analytics on how the dashboard is used (pages visited, errors encountered) collected through privacy-respecting analytics.

• Deliver and update your dog's test reports and supplement recommendations.
• Fulfill orders, ship kits and supplements, and process payments.
• Respond to your support requests.
• Send transactional emails (order updates, results ready, account notifications).
• Improve our service — debugging, performance monitoring, and aggregate, de-identified analysis only.

• Our laboratory partner (U.S.) — receives the physical sample and returns derived data under a strict data-handling contract. The lab does not receive your name or contact details, only an internal sample ID.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Supabase — our database and authentication provider, holding the PIPEDA-compliant Canadian database.
• Shipping carriers — your shipping address only.

We do not sell your personal information or your dog's biological data to anyone. We do not share individual-level data with insurers, advertisers, or research partners without your explicit opt-in.

Your dog's physical sample is shipped to a research-grade laboratory partner in the United States for sequencing. The derived data we receive back is stored in our PIPEDA-compliant Canadian database. By submitting a kit, you consent to this cross-border processing step.

The physical cheek swab is destroyed by the lab after analysis. Derived data is kept for as long as you maintain an account, so that we can update your reports over time. When you delete your account, derived data is removed within 30 days, including from analytics and backups (with rolling backup-retention windows applied).

• Access and correction — view and edit your account and dog information from your dashboard at any time.
• Download — request a copy of your data by emailing hello@preciouspaws.com.
• Deletion — request full deletion from your dashboard or by emailing us. We confirm within 30 days.
• Marketing opt-out — every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Transactional emails (order status, results) are not subject to opt-out.

We use TLS in transit, encryption at rest, hashed passwords, and role-based access controls. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users without undue delay in the event of a material breach, consistent with our obligations under PIPEDA.

Precious Paws is intended for adult dog parents. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.

We will update the “last updated” date above when this policy changes. For material changes, we'll also notify active customers by email.
