About

Every wag, lovingly understood.

We're a Canadian longevity company for dogs — building the same kind of biological-age testing that's reshaped human longevity, designed around the dog who sleeps at the foot of your bed.

Why we exist

Dogs are family. Their care should reflect that.

For a long time, the gap between how we've cared for ourselves and how we've cared for our dogs has been bigger than it should be. Humans got methylation clocks, microbiome assays, personalized supplementation. Dogs got a one-size-fits-all kibble and a yearly checkup.

The science quietly caught up. The first canine epigenetic clock was published in 2017. The Mammalian Methylation Consortium has now characterized methylation patterns across 185 species. The tools that work on us work — with adaptation — on them.

We built Precious Paws to bring that work to the doorstep, in a kit your dog can actually handle and a report you'll actually want to read.

The thesis

Give them every good year you can.

Healthspan, not just lifespan. A baseline you can track from. Wellness moves that come from your dog's actual biology, not a generic breed average.

How we work

Five things we promised ourselves we'd hold.

01

Stay in wellness.

We don't diagnose. We don't replace your veterinarian. Every report we ship is a wellness read — biological signals translated into supplement, nutrition, and routine guidance. If something needs medical attention, our reports point you to your vet, not the other way around.

02

Stand on real science.

Every claim on this site traces back to peer-reviewed work — primarily the canine methylation clock literature led by Pellegrini and collaborators at UCLA, and the broader Mammalian Methylation Consortium. We cite it openly on the Science page so you can read the originals yourself.

03

Your dog's data stays your dog's.

Samples are destroyed after analysis. Lab data lives in our PIPEDA-compliant Canadian database. We don't sell, license, or share individual-level data — not to insurers, not to advertisers, not to research partners without explicit opt-in.

04

Make the report worth reading.

A test report you don't open is a test report that didn't help your dog. We write every section like a love letter from the lab — substantive enough to matter, warm enough to actually read on a Sunday morning.

05

Be Canadian about it.

Precious Paws is a Canadian company. Sequencing happens at a research-grade U.S. laboratory partner under a strict data-handling agreement, then the lab data lives in our PIPEDA-compliant Canadian database. We disclose that cross-border step transparently rather than hiding behind a marketing line.

06

Talk to humans, not customers.

Every email gets a real reply from a real person who's read the underlying report. No phone trees, no retention scripts, no dark-pattern cancellation flows. You can cancel everything from your dashboard in one click.

The team

A small, opinionated team of dog people.

We're a founder-led team in Canada — engineers, designers, and writers who all happen to live with dogs we'd die for. We don't run the lab ourselves; sequencing happens at a research-grade U.S. laboratory partner that specializes in bisulfite-conversion workflows, under a strict data-handling agreement.

Our protocols are reviewed by an advisory group of veterinary nutritionists and canine longevity researchers who understand both the literature and the pet bowl. We don't name them publicly out of respect for their primary affiliations, but we credit their work in every recommendation we make.

None of the science is ours. We're building the bridge between peer-reviewed methylation research — including the dog-clock work led by Pellegrini and collaborators at UCLA — and a wellness protocol your dog will actually feel.

Get in touch

We answer every email.

Questions, feedback, recommendations on what to build next — we read everything. If something on a report didn't make sense, or you want to talk about a specific case, write to us. We aim to respond within one business day.
