PIPEDA and Privacy Accountability Summary
Language: English | Français
Effective date: July 22, 2026
This Summary describes how PuppyGenes applies PIPEDA's ten fair-information principles. Québec's private-sector privacy statute also applies where within its jurisdiction. The Privacy Policy contains the fuller operational notice and controls if this Summary omits detail; neither document limits a statutory right.
1. Accountability
1001635490 Ontario Inc. is accountable for personal information under its control, including information processed by service providers on our behalf. Our Privacy Officer oversees the privacy program, provider requirements, impact assessments, incidents, requests, and complaints. Contact information appears below.
2. Identifying purposes
We identify purposes at or before collection and explain them in the Privacy Policy and applicable point-of-collection notices. Materially new purposes are not introduced through vague terms or a Policy update where new consent is required.
3. Consent
We seek consent in a form appropriate to the information's sensitivity and the reasonable expectations of the individual. Essential sample processing, optional Genie processing, optional AI improvement or model training, and optional research are presented distinctly. Consent may be withdrawn prospectively subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice; we explain material consequences.
4. Limiting collection
We limit collection to information reasonably necessary for identified purposes and avoid adding direct account identifiers to laboratory or AI inputs where they are not needed. We warn users that free-text Genie messages are transmitted as written.
5. Limiting use, disclosure, and retention
We limit use and disclosure to identified purposes, consent, and permitted or required legal grounds. We do not currently sell personal information or individual-level dog-genetic data. Any future commercial data program requires the separate notice and consent described in the Privacy Policy. Our retention schedule covers samples, derived data, Genie, providers, legal records, and backups. We destroy or irreversibly anonymize information when its purposes and lawful retention requirements end.
6. Accuracy
We take reasonable steps to keep personal information sufficiently accurate, complete, and current for its purposes. Customers can update account and dog profile information and request correction. Genetic estimates may evolve as reference data and methods improve; that scientific uncertainty is not presented as certainty.
7. Safeguards
We use safeguards appropriate to sensitivity and require appropriate safeguards from service providers. We maintain incident-assessment, notification, and recordkeeping procedures under PIPEDA and Québec law.
8. Openness
Our Privacy Policy describes our practices, provider categories, international processing, retention, rights, and complaint routes. Our material provider list is maintained at puppygenes.com/privacy/providers. Privacy-governance information is published or made available as required by law.
9. Individual access
Subject to legal exceptions and identity verification, an individual may request access to personal information under our control, an account of its use and disclosure, and correction of inaccurate information. Portability is provided where applicable. Refusals are explained with available recourse.
10. Challenging compliance
We investigate complaints and take appropriate corrective action. Contact:
